Swim Schedule

We’re pleased to introduce our 2012-2013 Annual Season. Last year we streamlined our membership categories to cater for the broadest group of members, in an offering that rivals that of many Masters Swim clubs in our province and elsewhere.  As a non-profit society, Okanagan Masters Swim Club is managed for the benefit of its members.  With an all-year-round schedule at the H2O Adventure & Fitness Centre, we are responsible for our own programming and coaching.  Our team of capable coaches provides individual attention to help members achieve their full potential in a friendly and supportive environment.

If at anytime you start scratching your head because you’re stuck, feel free to contact Monique Russo, Registrar at registrar@okmasters.com. She’s really very nice and will answer any questions you may have.

Two certified swim/triathlon coaches will be on deck for every session with more than 4 swim lanes, and one coach will be on deck for sessions of 4 lanes or less.

We have coaches for every kind of swimmer, including developmental swimmers through each stage to advanced competitive swimmers and triathletes.  Coaching is included as part of the membership fee. Masters swimmers are coached as a group, with individual attention as required.  The head coach develops and annual program and each coach on deck will develop individual workouts per lane, according to match the annual program, customized to suit the capabilities of swimmers in that lane.

The basic requirement for a developmental swimmer joining OMSC is that he/she is capable of swimming at least four 25m lengths.  It is astonishing how quickly a developmental swimmer can progress with good coaching and a supportive group of co-swimmers.

Head Coach Jonathan Smirl has valuable experience both as a swim coach for recreational and competitive masters and triathlon swimmers. He is also completing his Masters Degree in Human Kinetics. As we get closer to the Triathlon and Open Water season, there will be more emphasis on distance freestyle training sets.
